The Extreme Games are played at the Kingsway Sporting Ovals and participated by students from schools within a cohort of eleven schools with similar demographics, numbers of students and curricular activities.
The students choose from three sports (one of which is lacrosse) and form a school based team to verse other schools at the games. The teams of year 6 students are mixed gender and skill level with all of the Alkimos based school undertaking coaching clinics in the lead up to the event.
Schools from the Alkimos Area that Participated are:
- Alkimos Baptist College
- St James Anglican School
- St Andrews Catholic Primary School
- Quinns Baptist College
The games where facilitated in partnership with Wanneroo Joondalup Lacrosse Club as the Pirates and the Warriors set the grounds, umpired the games and supported the teachers coaching their students. The day was a complete success and all students, teachers, parents and officials enjoyed what was a fantastic day of sportsmanship, rivalry, giving it a go and above all fun.
The tournament closed with an announcement of where each school finished in the placings with first place initially shown as tied between Quinns Baptist College (Alkimos Based School) and Kingsway Christian College (Wanneroo Based School). The winning school, on total goals scored, was Kingsway and received a large trophy to take back to their school.
Many students expressed their desire to take up lacrosse as a sport which is the ultimate aim of the two lacrosse clubs involvement.
